The Briggs & Stratton cold weather kit contains a battery warmer and an oil block warmer to help ensure your generator runs smoothly during the colder months. Featuring a pre-wired hook-up (no need for extension cords), the battery warmer keeps the battery warm when temperatures drop below 40-degrees Fahrenheit and turns off when temperatures climb above 40-degrees. To help extend the life of your engine during cold weather start-ups, the oil block warmer features a pre-wired hook-up (no need for extension cords), and keeps the oil and crankcase warm when temperatures drop below 40-degrees Fahrenheit. It turns off when temperatures climb above 40-degrees.

At least through Amazon it was $50 less than anywhere else I could find it. Functionally it's fine and it's easy to install yourself even though it says you need to have a certified electrician install it. When it first arrived and I saw what it was I was in shock. "I paid almost $200.00 for this?" I had my electrician buddy install it, even though it could be easily done by anyone that can read directions and connect a couple of snap in plugs. We had many nights of sub-zero temps and when I checked the block and battery they were noticeably warmer than the rest of the unit. I started the generator and it turned over flawlessly. I had already spent over $200.00 on the battery and with the temps we get around here I did not want to keep replacing frozen batteries at that price. I would recommend this cold weather kit to anyone in the same situation. It really does do the job as advertised. Recommend using a 11/16 crows foot and socket driver with extension to speed installation. You will have to drain oil from engine to install the oil warmer. Seems to be working otherwise. Leads could be longer but since I used an alternate location this may be a problem specific to my installation. |
